The Castlegar Garden and Nature Fest celebrated its 10th year in 2019! We need help to organize the 11th Annual May 23rd 2020 event!
The CGNF has grown in size and its scope of customers, and the vendors are comprised of long-time growers, and there are always some new faces. It is also used as a venue for community non-profits to educate and encourage participation in their volunteer groups.
The garden fest is a way to encourage and expose people to nature and growing, which is always a good thing. The Garden and Nature Fest offers seedlings, perennials, shrubs, trees, baked goods, concrete garden art, rock garden plants, lots of veggie starts, local bee keeping information, water lilies, annuals, bee and bat house, bird feeders and more. These are all local growers with local products.
After a decade of organizing this event, a couple of new faces are needed! It is fairly straightforward and we have templates, forms and maps from previous years for reference. I can certainly guide anyone who needs it as a volunteer or Darlene (from Communities in Bloom) could help too as she is the other organizer. Thanks!
Computer ability:
This is an important part of the CGNF and requires someone to be familiar with using a computer. It could also be done by two volunteers working together.
Other tasks:
- Advertising: put up posters and postcards in locations around the area, or organize some folks to do that
- make a map of the lot and where vendor spaces are located and email out
- Physically mark lot the night before, or the morning of the event
- put signs up the morning of the event

- sending out an email to all past vendors
- keeping track of the number of registration and spaces they want
- keeping track or payments. This info is communicated between yourself and Darlene
- We do have online payment by etransfer if they want, some folks send cheques, some pay on the day of the event… so it might include collecting that money on the day of the event (or briefing someone else to do it).
